Obituary: ​Lorraine (Lee) Vogel of Branford

She was the owner of the Branford Movie Theater from 1973-1998. After retiring, she worked at Kohl's in Branford for 14 years.

Lorraine (Lee) Vogel of Branford died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Sunday January 13, 2019. She was the wife of the late John Vogel. She was the mother of Lynda Baldwin (Gordon) and Gary Vogel, both of Branford and the mother in law of Pasquale Iovine of Branford. She was the sister in law of Katherine LaRose of Albany, N.Y.

She is also survived by her grandchildren Nicole Cudgma (Adam), Ryan Vogel, Michael Vogel, Lauren Vogel, and her great grandchildren Dylan and Gabrielle Cudgma, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Christine Vogel Iovine, her daughter in law Susan Vogel, and her brothers Harold and Richard LaRose. Lee was born in Albany, N.Y. on July 3, 1930, a daughter of Harold LaRose and Betty Saddlemire.

She was the owner of the Branford Movie Theater from 1973-1998. After retiring, she worked at Kohl’s in Branford for 14 years. She was an avid bowler and loved to shop and enjoyed traveling to Florida. Her family gives a special thank you to her primary care provider Ana Rodriguez who always went above and beyond with her care and compassion. They also want to thank Dr. Catharine Arnold and all the staff at Guilford Internal Medicine.

They also give a special thank you to Guilford VNA/Hospice for the exceptional care they gave to her, they couldn’t have done it without them.A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00 at St. Mary Church in Branford. Burial of her urn will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford. There will be no calling hours.
