Obituary: Marie Blake Vincent, 91, of Branford

From being a player on the softball team "The Bell Tells" to her champion duckpin bowling league, Marie loved to be active.

On June 3, 2018, the world lost the brilliance of one of the most beautiful smiles when Marie Blake Vincent, age 91, of Branford, CT, passed peacefully at home. Marie was born on May 15, 1927 to the late Floyd and Marie Blake in New Haven, CT. She was a loyal and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend.

Her family and friends were the most important part of her life. In her early years, she cherished her role of daughter and sister, and was deeply devoted to her mother and three older brothers. Marie had many passions.

From being a player on the softball team “The Bell Tells” to her champion duckpin bowling league, Marie loved to be active. She graced the traveling singing group “Sweet Adeline’s” as well as her church choir with her sweet alto voice and served on numerous church committees. Her love of travel was fulfilled by grand trips around the world to simple time at the beach with her family.

Her professional career included working for the telephone company, co-owner of Shopper’s World, executive assistant at Steve Leninski Properties and Antiques, service assistant for Nationwide Insurance.

Marie was predeceased by her husband, Edmund Vincent; brothers, Chester and Sheldon Blake and grandson, Michael Vincent. Marie leaves behind her loving family, including her brother Hayward Blake; her three children, Craig Vincent, Laurie Vincent, Leslie Vincent Myette and her husband Kevin; grandchildren, Nicole Harris and husband Adam, John Vincent and Ava Myette; great-grandson, Ryan Adam Harris, and her nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am Saturday, June 9th at the North Branford Congregational Church, with the Reverend Vance Taylor officiating followed by burial at Bare Plain Cemetery, North Branford.

Family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 PM Friday at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford. If desired friends may make memorial donations to the North Branford Congregational Church, 1680 Foxon Road, North Branford, CT 06471, or Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405. The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful care from Dr. Andrea Radebold, the staff at Connecticut Hospice.
