Obituary: Mary F. Lowery, 87, formerly of Branford

Mary F. Lowery, formerly of Branford, CT, died on June 2, 2023 at Masonicare in Wallingford, Ct. She was born November 12, 1935 in Hartford, CT to the late Edward and Mary Maher Lowery.
Mary was a graduate of the University of St. Joseph in West Hartford, CT, earning a B.A. in Spanish in 1957 and a Masters Degree in English in 1963. She remained a lifelong, loyal supporter of St. Josephs.

Mary enjoyed a thirty five year tenure as a New Haven teacher and administrator. In retirement she volunteered at Sarah’s Cupboard Thrift Shop in Branford.

She is survived by cousins, Kathy Vilas (Malcolm deceased), of Chagrin Falls, OH, Mary Zahner of Manchester, CT, Dan Landerfin (Joni Lee) of Boston, MA, Pat Long (Jon) of Essex Junction, VT, Rita Landerfin of Tolland, CT. Eileen Kirk (Shelby) of Mobile, AL, Richard Maher (Damian) of Avon, CT, James Maher (Dawn) of Cheshire, CT, and Ann Maher Horning of Avenel, N.J., and family friend Rita Franco of South Windsor, CT. She was predeceased by her long time companion, Ernie Fritz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary Church of St. John Bosco Parish in Branford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Mary may be made to the University of St. Joseph, 1678 Asylum Ave, West Hartford, CT 06117. The W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St. Branford is in care of arrangements.
