Obituary: ​Maurine Cornelius, 76, of Branford

Maurine Cornelius of Branford died peacefully in her home in Branford on Monday June 27. She was the wife of the late Jodie Cornelius.

She was the mother of Crystal Veilleux (husband Marc) of Branford and Renee Lee (husband Earl) of San Antonio.

She is also survived by her sisters Patricia Tucker of New Haven and Azalea Jordan of Fairfield, California, as well as her grandchildren, Justin, Tyler, Jason, Tim, Angela, and Jody. Maurine was born in New Haven on February 15, 1940, a daughter of Maurice and Marion Azalea Singleton.

She was married to Jodie Paul Cornelius on April 27, 1959 until his death in May 2014.

She worked for SNET for over 30 years. She was very active in the church community including serving as a Deacon at North Haven Congregational Church to serving on various groups at Branford United Methodist Church. She actively volunteered her time at the Branford Community Dining Room.

She was a very involved mother and grandmother.

A memorial service will be held on Friday at 10:00 at the United Methodist Church of Branford. Burial will be private. The W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St. Branford is in care of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the United Methodist Church, 811 East Main St. Branford, CT 06405.
