Michael Edward Battista, 77, of Branford, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019 with his family and friends by his side, at Apple Rehab of Guilford. He was the husband of Mary Lou Ruotolo Battista. He was born in New Haven on October 21, 1941 to the late Michael Edward, Sr. and Battista Ricci Battista. Michael was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 478 He worked for L.G. DeFelice, Inc. for many years, until his retirement in 2004.

He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. He loved to cook and spend time with his family during summers at the Beach House, in East Haven. Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons Louis (Kimberly) and Michael (Christine) Battista, as well as his sister Betty Ann (A. James) Krayeske. Michael had five grandchildren, including Pauly Paolella, Nicholas, Isabella, Michael A., and Christian Battista. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Beacon Hospice, and Apple Rehab of Guilford.

The Funeral will leave the East Haven Memorial Longobardi-Brennan Funeral Home, 425 Main Street, East Haven, 203-476-1708, Friday morning at 10:30AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Parish of St. John Bosco, at St Mary’s Church, Branford, at 11 am. The burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, from 5 to 8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
