Obituary: Michael S. Maturo, 87, of Branford

A paratrooper in the Korean War, he drove for Maislin Trucking, and was such a NY Giants fan, he was a season ticket holder for 60+ years.

Michael S. Maturo of Branford died Saturday January 8, 2022 at the VAMC in West Haven. He was the beloved husband of Ethel McNulty “EJ” Maturo.

Mike was born in New Haven March 29, 1934 son of the late Seymour and Jenny Cartenuto Maturo. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving as a paratrooper. He worked as a truck driver for Maislin Trucking for many years until retiring. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the New York Giants whom he was a season ticket holder for over 60 years, and the UConn Women’s basketball team. He loved attending all of his grandchildren’s many sporting events.

Besides Ethel, he is survived by his children, Paul Maturo of SC, Kim Maturo of TN, Kimberly and Ken Cornelio of Newington, Kelly and John Drolet of East Greenwich, RI, Gail and Terry Rooney of Stamford, Krissy and Justin Infantino, and Stephen Maturo of Branford; his grandchildren Alyson, Bryan (Maggie), Owen, Jack, Anthony, Kendall, Bryce, Hayden, Tanner and Kenny, Jr.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of his family.
