Obituary: ​Nancy Chambers Jones of Branford

She was an elementary school teacher in Branford for 35 years, retiring in 2011

Nancy Chambers Jones of Branford, died Tuesday June 21, 2016 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She was the wife of the late Ronald Jones.

Mrs. Jones was born in Kansas City, Kansas, February 20, 1946, daughter of the late William and Mildred Chambers. She was an elementary school teacher in Branford for 35 years, retiring in 2011. She was a very involved member of the First Congregational Church of Branford, where she served as a deacon, volunteered at the Killam's Point Summer Camp, and was a former member of the Bell Choir.

She also volunteered at Connecticut Hospice. She enjoyed quilting and adored her grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, Bret (Carley) Johnson and Douglas (Amy) Johnson of Branford; her grandchildren, Grady, Elijah, Noah, and Paige Lea Johnson; and her brother William Chambers of Phoenix, AZ.

Friends may call Friday from 5 – 8 PM at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, and are invited to a funeral service Saturday morning at 10:00 at the First Congregational Church of Branford. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery.
