Obituary: ​Patrick L. Amarante, 75, of Branford

Patrick L. Amarante of Branford, died Saturday March 3, 2018 at Connecticut Hospice. He was the beloved husband of fifty years to Judith Fazekas Amarante.

Pat was born in New Haven, son of the late Pasquale and Mary Baccalis Amarante. He was a 1960 graduate of Branford High School, a 1963 graduate of Monson Academy (MA), and a 1967 graduate of Northeastern University. He worked for 27 years for Cheesebrough-Ponds before retiring. He was a former member of the Italian-American Club in Branford and the Clinton Country Club. He was an avid baseball player in Branford when he was younger and he played softball for the Silver Dollar softball team for many years. When he stopped playing softball, golf became his passion, along with his vegetable garden. Pat enjoyed sharing his tomatoes with his neighbors.

Besides his wife, Pat is survived by his children, Michael (Erika) Amarante and Lisa (Cory) Cosgrove; his grandchildren, with whom he always enjoyed spending his time, Kathryn and Daniel Amarante,; his aunt Irene Aleo; and his in-laws, Laurie (David) DeVito, Bruce Fazekas and Joseph Fazekas. He was predeceased by his sister Rose Vince.

His family would like to thank Connecticut Hospice, the Yale Cancer Center - Smilow Guilford and Yale Thoracic Oncology at Smilow Cancer Hospital in New Haven for the care given to Pat during his illness.

Friends are invited to visiting hours Wednesday from 4:30 - 7:00 pm at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford. Funeral service and burial will be private.
