Obituary: Philip Archibald Horrigan, 93, of Branford

A chemistry professor at SCSU for 45 years, he authored many chemistry textbooks, loved travel and was an avid tennis player and golfer.

Philip Archibald Horrigan of Branford died on Saturday November 20, 2021 at Yale New Haven Hospital after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Anna Szczepanska Horrigan of Branford. He was the father of Thomas Horrigan of Branford, and is also survived by his grandchildren, Kelsey and Michael.

Philip was born in Boston on October 8, 1928, a son of Thomas and Viola Horrigan.

He was a long time resident of Branford. He was a Professor of Chemistry at Southern CT State University for 45 years, and he was the author of many text books on chemistry. He loved to travel, and was an avid tennis and golf player.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday at 11:00 at St. Mary Church of St. John Bosco Parish in Branford.
