Obituary: Phoebe Klein MacKinnel, 85, of Branford

She grew up in East Haven, graduating from East Have High School in the Class of 1949.

Phoebe Klein MacKinnel of Branford, wife of 63 years to Donald MacKinnel, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2017. Phoebe was born July 8, 1931, daughter of the late Gladys and Frederick Klein. She grew up in East Haven, graduating from East Have High School in the Class of 1949. She maintained many friendships with classmates over the years.

Phoebe attended Arnold College, and received her Teacher's Degree. After raising her children, she became a teacher's aide at the Pine Orchard School. She was an active member of Tabor Lutheran Church in Branford.

Phoebe is the beloved mother of Douglas (Sharon) MacKinnel, David (Anne) MacKinnel and Danny (Didi) MacKinnel, all of Branford. She is the grandmother of Kyle, Abby, Taylor, Tiffany and Tommy; and the great-grandmother of Kaden and Summer.

Phoebe is also survived by her sister, Barbara Fraser of New Hampshire. She was predeceased by her brothers, Sherwood and Pieter Klein. She took pleasure in her family, and enjoyed dancing, knitting, bowling and UConn Women's basketball. She had several dogs over the years, which she loved dearly. Phoebe will be sorely missed by her friends and family.Funeral services will be private and there will be no calling hours.
