Obituary: Phyllis Hagan, 77, of Branford

She first taught (including by sign language) at Easter Seals Goodwill Industries in New Haven, finishing her 25 year career there.

Phyllis Hagan of Branford, died Friday April 22, 2016.

Wife of the late James Edward Hagan, Sr. Mrs. Hagan was born in Taylor, PA January 14, 1939, daughter of the late Francis X. and Ruth M. Decker Johnson. Phyllis was a long time resident of Milford, CT, prior to settling in Branford, CT in 1975.

A graduate of Southern CT State College, She first taught (including by sign language) at Easter Seals Goodwill Industries in New Haven, finishing her 25 year career there, in management.

An avid gardener, in retirement she could be found, depending on the season, working in her yard on a myriad of seasonal flowers & plants, or in winter, tending to beautiful orchids cultivated inside her home.

She is survived by her children, James Edward Hagan, Jr. (Karen) of Beacon Falls, CT and Jill DeLea (Garry) of Essex, CT; her grandchildren, Alicia E. and Tyler J. Hagan; her sisters, Joan Ganim of Stratford and Ruth Ann Dornfeld of Branford; and her brother, Frank X. Johnson, Jr. of Milford.

Relatives and friends may call Tuesday evening from 5 – 8 PM at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, and are invited to a graveside service Wednesday morning at 10:00 in St. Mary Cemetery, Buckingham Ave., Milford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Easter Seals Goodwill Industries "development department", 432 Washington Ave North Haven, CT 06473.
