Obituary: ​Richard T. "Rick" Martin, 68, of Branford

He was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He loved trains and had many model trains.

Richard T. "Rick" Martin of Branford died Sunday April 2, 2017 at Branford Hills Health Care Center. He was the husband of 48 years to Sandra Vitelli Martin. Rick was born August 4, 1948 in Lackawanna, NY, son of the late John and Mildred Rogers Martin.

He was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He had worked for many years as an installer for the Wilbert Burial Vault Company in Orange. He also formerly worked at Tilcon's as a crossing guard. He loved trains and had many model trains. His train has left the station and is heading to heaven. Besides his wife, Rick is survived by his daughter, Michele Martin of Branford, and his grandchildren, Sarah Hatta and Ronald Hatta, Jr. (Amanda Gellatly). He is also survived by his beloved cat, Maxie Boy.

His family would like to thank the staffs at Branford Hills Health Care Center, Ledgewood 2 and Seasons Hospice for the compassionate care shown to Rick during his final illness.

Friends may call Saturday morning from 10:00 – 12:00, with a funeral service to be held at 12:00 at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford. Burial will be private at the convenience of his family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St., #3, New York, NY 10016, or the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter, 749 East Main Street, Branford, 06405.
