Obituary: Robert F. Vuksinic of Branford
Robert was an on site foreman in charge of the famous USA Space Capsule Apollo 11 recovery.

Robert F. Vuksinic of Branford died on Thursday July 19, 2018 at Ct Hospice. Robert was born in Branford , CT on June 23, 1934. He was the son of the late Anthony and Sophia Vuksinic. Robert is survived by sisters Linda Gibson of Branford, Carol Cyr of Killingworth, Shirley Brennan of Madison, and his brother John Vuksinic of North Branford.
He was a loving father to Patricia L. Wilson of Laguna Beach, CA, Sandy D. Yacenda of Fountain Valley, CA, Susan Murphy-Malone of Branford, and Gerald Murphy (Elena) of Ocala, FL. Robert was also a beloved grandfather to Sunny Yacenda of Laguna Beach, CA, Vanessa Wager of Norwalk, CT, Anthony Carroll of New Haven, Riley Carroll of Branford, CT, Salma Mansurr of Fort Campbell, KY, Anyssa Daglaris of Camp Lejune, N.C. and Kamilah Manssur-Murphy of Ocala, FL. He also leaves behind 8 nieces and 4 nephews. Robert was predeceased by his sister Elizabeth Longobardi and his 2 brother David and Anthony Vuksinic. He was also predeceased by his first wife Magdalena Hazel Vuksinic.

Robert served in the U.S. Navy for 8 years as a Rigger. He continued as a rigger for the rest of his working years at Jack Rubin and Sons in Wilmington, CA where he was a chief rigger. On July 24, 1969, Robert was an on site foreman in charge of the famous USA Space Capsule Apollo 11 recovery using special netting and rigging to fish out the Apollo 11 from the North Pacific Ocean on the USS Hornet. The Apollo 11 carried the first crew to ever set foot on the moon. Robert was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. He also loved to go to Mohegan Sun to watch and bet on the horses, which was another of his favorite hobbies.
Robert was an animal lover, particularly of dogs, in which his lifetime he was the owner of several dogs, all of whom he cherished. Friends and family are invited to go directly to St. Mary Church, 731 Main St. Branford on Thursday July 26 at 10:00 A.M. to attend a Mass of Christian Burial and are also invited to attend the committal service immediately following at St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford.
