Obituary: ​Robert L. Copperthite, Jr., 70, Formerly of Branford

He was a volunteer firefighter in Branford for twenty years, first at Company 9, and ending as a Captain with Company 8.

Robert L. Copperthite, Jr., of Wallingford, formerly of Branford, died Wednesday January 4, 2017 at Masonicare in Wallingford.

He was the beloved husband of Audrey R. Copperthite. Bob was born November 8, 1946 in New Haven, son of the late Robert L., Sr. and Shirley Dion Copperthite. He worked for Chemical Leaman in Branford for 22 years, and for Freightliner for 5 years until retiring in 2004.

Bob also was a sheet metal worker with Local 40 for 12 years. He was an avid camper , and also a volunteer firefighter in Branford for twenty years, first at Company 9, and ending as a Captain with Company 8. He also was a part time dispatcher for the Branford Fire Department.

Besides his wife, Bob is survived by his children, Robert L. Copperthite, III (Theresa), Brian Copperthite, Laura Copperthite, Cortney Larkins (Chuck), Cole Goulet, and Cadah Goulet Hague (Chris); his grandchildren Michael, Rebecca and Willa; his sister, Linda Davy (Paul); nephew Matt Davy; and his former spouse Lynn Hozjan. His family would like to thank the staff at Ramage 6 Masonicare for the care and compassion shown to Bob.
