Obituary: Ruth Ceccolini, 92, of Branford

She was an unofficial town historian of the town of Branford.

Ruth Ceccolini of Branford died in her home in Branford on Thursday May 12. She was the wife of the late Bruno Ceccolini. She was the mother of Linda Wyers (husband Joseph) of Hamilton, N.J., Robert Ceccolini (wife Deb) of Branford, and Gary Ceccolini (wife Natalie) of Ann Arbor, MI.

She was the sister of Joseph "Bobby" Sokolosky of Branford. She was also survived by 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters Anele Hines, Mary Close, Anna Bloomquist, Helen Piscitello, Josephine Salvin, Rosalyn Bennett, Stanley Sokolosky, Frank Sokolosky, Anthony Sokolosky, and John David Sokolosky.

Ruth was born in Branford on February 29, 1924, a daughter of Stanley and Ellen Chepulis Sokolosky. When she was younger she worked for M.I.F. in Branford. She was an unofficial town historian of the town of Branford.

She loved gardening and did yard work and gardening into her nineties. She was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles, and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and UCONN Women's Basketball. She loved her neighborhood and her neighbors, and was proud of her Lithuanian Heritage. Most of all, she was a devoted mother and cherished grandmother.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:00 at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St. Branford, with burial in St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford. Friends may call prior to the funeral from 9:00-10:00. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Friends of the Blackstone Library, 758 Main St. Branford, CT 06405.
