Obituary: Salvatore Carrieri, of Branford

Salvatore Carrieri of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, formerly of Branford and East Haven, died on Saturday June 4 in Ft. Lauderdale. He was the husband of the late Anita Fiondella Carrieri.
He is survived by his children: Patricia Carrieri Landolfi (husband Dominic) of Rock Fall, CT, Peter Carrieri (wife Laura Peters) of Shelton, Paula Carrieri Ferenc of Rumney, New Hampshire, Jean (Jay) Carrieri (wife Hilary Campbell) of Smithtown, L.I., Karen Carrieri of Ashland, Oregon, and Steven Carrieri of New York, N.Y.

He leaves 7 grandchildren: Lauren Landolfi Fiedler, Alicia Landolfi Buontempo, Kathryn Landolfi, Leah Ferenc Bourdon, Alyce Ferenc, Nicholas Carrieri, and Sophia Carrieri, and 3 great-grandchildren: Ava Buontempo, Miles Bourdon, and Sasha Bourdon.
He is also survived by his friend Ruby Doyle of Plantation, FL. and his former son in law Paul Ferenc. He was predeceased by his baby daughter Allison Carrieri, his brother and best friend Pasquale Carrieri, and his sisters, Marie Rizzo, Rose Rizzo, and Julia Ruocco.

Sal was born in New Haven on April 14, 1928, a son of Pietro and Alphonsina DeMatteo Carrieri. He served in the U.S. Army where he received a World War II Victory Medal.
He was a Head Linesman for Northeast Utilities for 38 years. He also owned his own business, S & T Home Improvement. He was a member of the Italian American Club and the Annex in New Haven. He was a sports enthusiast and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10:00 at St. Mary Church in Branford. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford. Friends may call Sunday from 4-7 P.M. at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St. Branford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Veterans Administration, 2300 Commercial Blvd., Sunrise, FL 33325 or to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 3 International Drive, Suite 200, Rye Brooke, N.Y. 10573, LLS.org.
