Obituary: Shaune Lynch Florio, 79, of Branford

A Short Beach School secretary years ago, Shaune enjoyed boating and gardening. She was happiest surrounded by family at her kitchen table.

Shaune Lynch Florio, age 79, life-long resident of Branford, CT entered into eternal rest on January 8, 2021 surrounded by family. She was born on July 7, 1941 in New Haven to the late Walter and Dorothy Fenn Lynch. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, John J. Florio. She also leaves behind her brother Brian (Palma) Lynch, sons Jon ”Fuzzy” (Amy), Chad (Leslie), and Todd (Janice) and long-time friend Valerie Shanoff. She will always be remembered as “Dede” to her grandchildren, Krystal (Steve) Pietruszka, Tyler Florio, Cayla Florio, Nathan Florio, Jordyn Severino and Allyson Florio. She was the beloved great-grandmother to Jacob and Madyson Pietruszka.

Shaune grew up in Short Beach and was a 1959 graduate of Branford High School. She was a secretary at Short Beach School in Branford for a number of years. She then went on to work at Temple Radiology in New Haven, CT for 30+ years and retired from there. She enjoyed many years of boating with her family at Green Island and Kelsey’s. She enjoyed working on her class reunion board with her classmates planning their reunions. She loved taking trips with friends and going to the casino. Shaune was an avid gardener, a fan of the UCONN woman’s basketball team and was always happiest when she was surrounded by her family at her kitchen table for dinner.
