Obituary: Thomas F. Mautte, 84, of Branford
An Army veteran, he was a self-employed contractor who enjoyed fishing on his boat with his cousins and Newport vacations with his wife Judy

Thomas F. Mautte of Branford died Monday September 20, 2021 at the Madison House. He was the beloved husband of Judy Trotta Mautte.
Tom was born March 6, 1937 in New Haven, son of the late Daniel and Elizabeth Tyler Mautte. He served in the U. S. Army in Germany in the early ‘60’s. He was a self-employed contractor until his retirement.
An Army veteran, he was a self-employed contractor who enjoyed fishing on his boat with his cousins and Newport vacations with his wife Judy.
In his younger years Tom was an avid athlete who enjoyed playing basketball and was also a member of the legendary Silver Dollar softball team where he formed lifelong friendships with many of the players. Tom also enjoyed many hours fishing on his boat with his cousins Mike and Del and enjoyed many summer vacations in Newport with his wife Judy.
Tom lived a full life and we were blessed to share it with him.
Besides Judy, Tom is survived by his children, Daniel Mautte (Kristi Kerpen) of Branford, Jill (Chris) Hilgert of Guilford, and Thomas Scott (Pam) Mautte of Hamden, his grandchildren, Evan, Lauren and Tyler Hilgert, Matthew, Michael and Thomas Mautte and Jack Mautte; his sisters, Noreen Melillo, Deborah Gilbert and Elizabeth Ronne. He was predeceased by his brother Daniel Mautte.
Funeral from the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, Saturday morning at 9:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church at 10:00. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. Visiting hour prior to the funeral from 8:30 – 9:30 AM at the funeral home.
