Obituary: Virginia Uguccioni “Ginny” Monte of Branford

She was an avid baker, especially her famous anginetti cookies. She enjoyed sports and especially loved watching her grandchildren.

Virginia Uguccioni “Ginny” Monte of Branford, died Friday February 1, 2019 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Ginny was born in New Haven June 30, 1932, daughter of the late Fortunata and Delcise Corinaldesi Uguccioni. She was a Service Rep for SNET for over 30 years until retiring in 1991.

She was a lifetime member of the SNET Pioneers. Ginny was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved to garden and listening to opera. She was an avid baker, especially her famous anginetti cookies. She enjoyed sports and especially loved watching her grandchildren in all of their sporting events and activities. Regardless of the outcome she would always tell them “It was a good game because you were in it. Have a cookie”

Ginny is survived by her children, Joan Monte of Branford, Robert (Martha) Monte of Guilford; her grandchildren, Alex, Ben, Nate and Madelyn Monte; and her sister Dorothy Gambardella of North Haven. She was predeceased by her brother Alfred Uguccioni.

Her funeral will leave the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street Branford Tuesday morning at 11:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church at St. John Bosco Parish, 731 Main Street, Branford at 12:00. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral from 10:30 - 11:30. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
