Obituary: Volunteer Assistant Fire Chief Edwin Kelsey III

"A lifelong resident of Short Beach, he was a staple to the community and a mentor to so many."

BRANFORD, CT — The Branford Fire Department is mourning the death of Volunteer Assistant Fire Chief (Retired) Edwin Kelsey III.

The Fire Department said, "Branford Fire Department wishes to express our deepest condolences to the family of Volunteer Assistant Chief (Ret.) Edwin Kelsey III who passed away following a long illness. Per the family, services will be private.

AC Kelsey was quick with a smile and to offer a kind word. He was an ardent supporter of Firefighter training, a friend, mentor and all around good guy. Company 4 regrets to report the passing of yet another long time active member, Edwin Kelsey III. Mr. Kelsey joined the Short Beach H.H.&L. Co. in 1955. He served as Assistant Chief and was one of the founders of BFD’s training division.
