Obituary: Walter L. Sabine, 92, of Branford
Walter was the owner of Sabine Construction Company for many years until retiring.

Walter L. Sabine, of Branford, died Sunday October 16, 2016 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. He was the beloved husband of Shirley Sabine. Mr. Sabine was born July 14, 1924 in Boyd, MD, son of the late Walter L. and Florence Pond Sabine.
He served in the U. S. Merchant Marines during World War II. Walter was the owner of Sabine Construction Company for many years until retiring. He was an avid sailor, and competed in many races. Walter enjoyed spending time with his family.

Besides his wife, Walter is survived by a son Peter Sabine of St. Augustine, FL; step-daughters, Sherry Sabine of Liberty, KY, Lori Helander (Forrest) of Madison, Holly Werle Eric) of Guilford, his grandchildren, Bethany, Rachel, Joshua, Hannah, Caleb, Sarah, Jessie, Josiah, Abigail, Joya, Hope and Benjamin; his great-grandchildren, Zeke, Asher, Macie, Sophia, Grace, Lily, Charley and Marlowe; and his sister-in-law Carol Paul of New York. He was predeceased by a son Wayne Sabine and sisters, Gertrude Wylie and Betty Otto.
Friends are invited to a Memorial Service Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 in the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, and may call prior to the service from 2:00 – 3:30. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P. O. Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
