Play Ball! Branford Little League Opening Day!

First Selectman Anthony "Unk" DaRos throws the first pitch!

On Saturday morning, was the place to be for Branford's Little League opening day ceremonies. A small parade of the leagues 34 teams started the event.  Each team–starting with T-ball–was introduced and assembled on the main field.

A prayer was held by Deacon Tony Smith followed by the National Anthem. The first pitch of the season was thrown by First Selectman Anthony "Unk" DaRos and caught by Zane Kmietek. Trophies were presented to last year's champions. The Knights of Columbus team coached by Rich Madonna were AA division champs and the AAA champs were Suppa Construction coached by Mike Kmietek. Majors champs were the Elks, coached by Dave Delise.

Little League President Mike Kmietek addressed the players and urged the kids to enjoy the season and to play fair with respect and camaraderie to all teams.
