Police: Nabbed Bicycle Thief In The Act At Cycle Shop

In a storage unit behind Zane's Cycles, police say they found Alfredo DiNuzzo "hiding inside" and in the "process of stealing bicycles."

BRANFORD, CT — Police say they caught a man in the act of stealing bicycles from Zane’s Cycles on East Main Street Monday night.

According to Branford Police, at around 9 p.m., an alarm activation at the shop sent officers over to check. When they arrived, the building was secure but, the closed and locked storage trailer in the back had its lock cut. Police went inside the say they found Alfredo DiNuzzo. Jr, 35, "hiding inside" and in the "process of stealing bicycles." Police said DiNuzzo had "several tools to aid in the theft and bolt cutters were found nearby."

DiNuzzo had been staying at an area motel, police said.

He was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree criminal trespass, possession of burglar tools and sixth-degree larceny.

He was held on $50,000 bond and will be taken to New Haven Superior Court for arraignment.
