Renovations to Branford Train Station on Schedule

The renovations that began last winter are progressing in a timely manner.

The renovation at the train station on Maple Street is expected to be completed by next summer, the New Haven Register reports.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is working alongside the construction company Rizzo Corp., on the renovation.

According to the Register, construction on the foundation started last winter and developers are now beginning to install a pedestrian skywalk. The skywalk will connect two 38-foot elevator towers that will soon be built, ensuring safe train access for commuters in any direction.

Aldo Addario, coordinating superintendent with Rizzo Corp. told the paper the renovations to the station would accommodate traffic from both directions. He added that the station would be easier to access for commuters from either side of the station. The commuter overpass and the added bike stand would reduce car traffic at the station.

Most of the construction is done at night and there are as many as 30 construction workers on site daily.
