Responding To A Burglary In Progress, Branford Police Cruiser Hit: PD
The cruiser was hit in the Short Beach Road & Maple Street intersection. The officer was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.
BRANFORD, CT — A Branford police cruiser, en route to a report of a burglary in progress, was struck by another vehicle, late Thursday afternoon.
According to Branford Police Deputy Chief John Alves, the officer was on their way, with lights and siren activated, to the call in the area of Brushy Plains Road from Short Beach Road. The police car was struck by another vehicle while in the intersection of Short Beach Road and Maple Street, Alves said.
The driver of the car was not injured in the crash, but the police officer was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital as a precautionary measure.

Alves said the incident is being investigated by police supervisors.
