BRANFORD, CT —Last week, Branford Public Schools announced its central office moved to Francis Walsh Intermediate School. The move had been in the works for more than two years. So, why has it left its longtime home on Main Street?
Schools superintendent Hamlet Hernandez explained in March 2020 during a tour of the then still under construction school, touring a media tour. And reminded Patch of the reason Tuesday.
Part of the renovation plan at Walsh was to "create a new central office wing," he said.

"We want to reduce our footprint and rededicate the Main Street building back to the town," he explained. "We now have a home at Walsh."
The plan calls for the full Board of Education to make it official at its Dec. 22 meeting, Hernandez said. The superintendent, who will retire at the end of the 2022-2023 school year, said that while everything has been moved from Main Street, there are "some things to do procedurally."
