Severely Abused Dog Makes 'Miraculous Recovery': Shelter Staff
The story of 'Hope' has gone international as the dog was a day or two away from death, animal shelter staff have said.

(Editor's Note: For those of you who haven't been following the story of Hope, you've missed a lot. Two weeks ago someone driving by saw a dog struggling to walk in Branford. She took the dog to the Dan Csogrove Animal Shelter and staff called it "one of the worst cases of animal cruelty" they had ever seen. Staff said the dog was starved and was a day or two away from death. Over the past two weeks, shelter staff have cared for the dog around the clock and named it 'Hope.' A reward of $5,000 has been issued by PETA for information on who did this to 'Hope.' The shelter has been providing daily updates concerning Hope's recovery.)

Everyone is feeling more confident that Hope will recover through all of this including the veterinarians who are caring for her. Hope has gained almost 15 pounds so far!!! We know that is still alot of water weight because she needs a lot of hydration, but we will still take it. In almost three weeks time Hope has made a miraculous recovery and we are so very proud of her!
Hope will continue to be under 24 hour vet care for at least the next two to three weeks. We know a lot of people would like to meet Hope and we will set something up at some point to do that. We also know there are alot of people interested in adopting her - applications are available at branfordanimalshelter.org.
We have compilied a list and a map of all the people from places that have reached out to us in some form about Hope. We can tell you places as far away as New Zealand, Australia, the UK, Puerto Rico and Vietnam have made the list. We are so grateful for the outpouring of support from everyone all over. We do have a lot of dogs, cats and bunnies at the shelter who are awaiting their forever home too...so please stop by and visit us if you are in the area.
And lastly we will be posting some pictures of dogs looking for homes in the next post, so please share it far and wide. Thank you so much again for all that you are all doing to help Hope and all the homeless animals waiting for their forever home!
