Shelton Gets Less, But Derby More Under Malloy's New Budget Plan

Derby would be one of the few towns in the state getting more money - $87,000; but Shelton would get $660,000 less.

The bad news keeps coming for Connecticut municipalities as the state attempts to claw out from under its budget mess.

Under Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's revised, proposed adjustments to the fiscal year 2019 budget previously adopted by the legislature state municipal aid would be cut nearly $100 million - both in the education and non-education side.

Shelton would receive 9 percent - or $660,596 less - under Malloy's proposal. It was supposed to get $7.4 million; now, $6.8 million. Derby is actually one of the few towns that would get more - $87,328 - under Malloy's new plan. It was supposed to get $9.7 million; now $9.8 million.
