Six Branford Schools To Receive Funding To Improve Security
State awards more than $80,000 for security improvements to six Branford schools; town will spend more than $150,000 for the rest of cost.

BRANFORD, CT - Branford is one of the town's that will be receiving state funding to enhance security infrastructure at six of its schools. Branford will be spending $237,000 - $80,500 of it state money, the rest town of Branford funds.
Governor Dannel Malloy Friday announced the grants which total $10 million that will be used for 182 public and private school in 51 towns across the state. The funds were approved under the School Security Grant Program that was created in 2013 as part of a broad legislative package focusing on gun violence prevention, mental health and school security issues.
To date the state has made $53 million available to over 1,200 schools in three separate rounds of funding.

"We have a moral obligation to provide a safe learning environment for out students," Malloy said.
