Small Setback Doesn't Deter Hope's Recovery
Animal shelter staff say they are still hoping to do a meet and greet with Hope and her fans once her health improves even more.

(Editor's Note: For those of you who haven't been following the story of Hope, you've missed a lot. Almost two months ago someone driving by saw a dog struggling to walk in Branford. She took the dog to the Dan Csogrove Animal Shelter and staff called it "one of the worst cases of animal cruelty" they had ever seen. Staff said the dog was starved and was a day or two away from death. Over the past two months, shelter staff and local vets have cared for the dog around the clock and named it 'Hope.' A reward of $5,000 has been issued by PETA for information on who did this to 'Hope.' The shelter has been providing updates concerning Hope's recovery.)

Hi Everyone,
Here is the hope update for this week! ( Sorry we didn't post last night ....it was a REALLY REALLY long day)
Hope is continuing to do well! Hope continues to gain weight and you can tell by the second picture that you really can't see her ribs anymore!! She now weighs 62 pounds! ( Hope doesn't sit still for very long so she is on the move in these photos )

Hope had a small set back over the weekend....she came down with laryngitis on Sunday. We did x rays and started her on antibiotics. She is still eating and drinking normally and acting like herself, but she had some congestion so her care giver became concerned.
With all that Hope has been through, we know that her immune system has been compromised. She will most likely always be susceptible to catching germs that other animals may easily fight off. But with that said, Hope continues to thrive and amaze all of us with her strength and grace!
We are really hoping to do a meet and greet with Hope, but we just need to be sure she is healthy enough to be around a lot of people. We will continue to update everyone weekly on her progress and we will let everyone know when we have chosen her adopter and the date of her meet and greet.
Thanks again for following Hope's progress and for being such an amazing support system for Hope and everyone involved!
