State Rep. Comey ‘Embracing Recovery’ In Return To Hartford

BRANFORD, CT — State Rep. Robin Comey (D-102) returned to Hartford this week after completing an “intensive inpatient program for addiction,” she said in an email to constituents.

A judge approved Comey's request last week to enter the state's impaired driving intervention program in lieu of a trial regarding a car crash March 16, after which Comey was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, according to multiple reports.

“Sobriety remains the highest priority for me,” Comey wrote in the email on Friday. “I'm embracing recovery, engaging in personal growth, and seeking guidance and counseling to ensure that I remain strong and healthy.

“The trust and faith you have placed in me as your state representative is deeply valued and I understand the importance of accountability.

“Though I stepped away for a few weeks, my commitment to serving my constituents has remained firm and I am focused on honoring my oath of office and continuing to work passionately for you.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to shape policies that positively impact our community and am more determined than ever to continue advocating for your needs and concerns.

“Although I recognize that public trust may have been momentarily shaken, I have always been a tireless advocate, championing issues that influence our everyday lives. My track record of dedicated service and unwavering support for my constituents speaks for itself, and I am grateful and eager to be serving Branford.

“Finally, I want to take a moment to express my sincere thanks to all the individuals who reached out to me, providing support during a very difficult experience. Your kindness and compassion helped me through a challenging time.”
