State Sen. Ted Kennedy Jr. '90 Percent' Likely to Run For Governor: Report

Kennedy was re-elected to a second term. He represents Branford, Guilford, Madison, North Branford, Killingworth, and parts of Durham.

BRANFORD, CT — Could the state's next governor hail from Branford? The Connecticut Post's Neil Vigdor reports that there is a "90 percent" chance that state Sen. Ted Kennedy Jr. will run for governor in 2018.

He is the son of the late Edward M. Kennedy and he is also a nephew of the late President John F. Kennedy. Kennedy, 55, told Vigdor in a statement that he is focused currently on his legislative agenda but admits "if other opportunities to serve were to arise, I would consider them."

Kennedy is serving a second-term in Hartford. The Post notes that Kennedy traveled during the last election to help other Democratic candidates in Connecticut. Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has not said whether he's seeking a third-term and Middletown Mayor Dan Drew is also eyeing a run for governor.
