Stolen Car Crashes Into Police Cruiser: Branford PD

It's the second time in weeks that a stolen car crashed into a cruiser.

BRANFORD, CT — A stolen Stamford car crashed into a police cruiser for the second time in weeks in Branford. Four juveniles and a Bridgeport man were arrested.

The crash happened around 9:45 p.m. Monday. Officer John Abely and others were responding to a report of a suspicious people in a vehicle in the area of Seldon Avenue, said Capt. Geoffrey Morgan, police spokesman. Five vehicles were reported stolen from the area less than 24 hours earlier.

A resident called 911 as officers were searching and said a white truck crashed into parked cars in his driveway and that occupants were leaving in a Honda minivan.

Abely approached the area and the minivan struck the front of his patrol vehicle, Morgan said. The minivan then went off-road and got stuck on its side.

Three Bridgeport juveniles and a 14-year-old driver from Derby were charged with several offenses including first-degree larceny and related burglary and conspiracy charges.

Patrick Geyer, 19, of Bridgeport was charged with the same offenses and held on $50,000 bail.

A similar incident occurred in late March.
