Survey Gives Residents A Say In Planning For Future Housing Needs
CT's cities and towns are required to submit an affordable housing plan by June 2022. Citizen input is an important part of the process.

BRANFORD, CT — The first question in the survey is this: "What do you think 'affordable housing' is?"
In a message to the community from Branford Town Planner Harry Smith, it's noted that the Branford resident online housing survey lets folks "provide input about their housing experiences and feedback about alternative housing options that could be considered for Branford."
Smith said that the community's voice will "enhance these efforts" and likely be used by local boards, agencies, and staff for future planning purposes.

The 5 to 7-minute survey, which can be accessed directly here and also on the town's websites' homepage, will be open for responses through Sunday, Dec. 5.
“Taking this survey is one of the best ways for residents to register their opinion about the need for affordable housing and strategies being considered to foster more of it,” Smith said.

It's noted on the survey that state law requires each of Connecticut's 169 towns in Connecticut prepare an Affordable Housing Plan by June 2022.
"In Branford, An Ad Hoc Affordable Housing Committee was appointed for this purpose. Once a Draft Affordable Housing Plan has been prepared by the Committee, it will be shared with residents as well as Town boards and commission for their consideration. Community input is an important part of the overall process of preparing the Affordable Housing Plan."
By completing this survey, your voice will help the Ad Hoc Committee understand shared goals and concerns as it plans for the future of our community, it's noted.
