Teens: Tell Blackstone What You Want!

The Blackstone Library wants to better support the teens of Branford. We are starting a Teen Advisory Board here at the library, and are hoping to have lots of teens come out for it. The idea of a TAB is to have librarians meet with teens and listen to what you have to say - really listen - and come up with programs that you will actually get something out of, and maybe even run! Teens who attend the meetings and help with programs will also earn community service hours.

We want to know what we can do to better support the teens of Branford and to make the Blackstone a welcoming place for you. We want to know what books make you laugh, what movies you watch over and over again, what forms of art you like to practice... and then we will respond. We can get the materials you like, and we can make programs happen that you'll enjoy.

These are a few of the many possibilities for programs, but they won't happen if we don't have you involved:

  • Poetry open mic
  • Glass bubble magnet making
  • Zombie face painting
  • Writing and performing skits based on kids books
  • Learning how to make signs (like the TAB flyer, shown here) using Publisher

Carly, the Youth Services Librarian, and Katy, a Reference Librarian, are going to meet with teens on October 24th at 6 PM. We encourage anyone with a 'teen' in their age to attend. We really want to hear from you and help build a place where you belong. Interested? Please register here or call 203-488-1441 x 323.
