'Turkey Donuts' For Branford Families in Need

Local Dunkin' Donuts Franchisee Brings Community Together to Help Feed Neighbors in Need.

Imagine Thanksgiving dinner without turkey. For hundreds of Branford families this could be a reality according to Branford Food Pantry President Wendy Cowles.

After years of successful turkey collection, the Food Pantry may not reach their goal to feed 500 families this holiday season due to a loss of turkey donations from two organizations that supplied nearly 300 turkeys combined in the past, said Cowles.

Guilford Dunkin’ Donuts franchisees, D’Andrea Group, will answer their neighbor’s call for help by asking guests to purchase “Turkey Donuts.” All proceeds will be used to purchase 2,000 pounds of turkey for the Branford Food Pantry.

Starting November 1, Dunkin’ Donuts guests of D’Andrea Group stores can add a “Turkey Donut” to any order and D’Andrea Group will donate one pound of turkey to the Branford Food Pantry. Purchasing a “Turkey Dozen” will buy the guest 12 “Turkey Donuts” and one whole 12 to 14-pound pound turkey for a family in need. The promotion will run through November 14 and will be available at the D’Andrea Group’s four Dunkin’ Donuts in Guilford (1675 Boston Post Road, 1200 Boston Post Road, 900 Boston Post Road and 556 Boston Post Road), one store in Clinton (7 Glenwood Road) and Killingworth (172 Clinton Street).

Donuts for a good cause is not something new to D’Andrea Group. Guests helped the business raise $1,102.10 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital this past spring in partnership with American Idol winner Nick Fradiani by purchasing “Nick Donuts.” Additionally, the franchisees donated more than $2,500 to Rajay Linton, a West Haven teen who recently underwent a successful heart transplant surgery by selling heart donuts and donating 100% of the proceeds in February.
