BRANFORD, CT — A motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries in a fiery crash on West Main Street Wednesady night.

According to the Branford Police Department, with assistance from its regional partners of the South-Central Connecticut Traffic Unit, and Branford Fire Department personnel, they responded to a "serious motor vehicle crash involving an SUV and a motorcycle" at around 6 p.m. in the area of 624 West Main Street.

While police investigated, the roadway remained closed for around two hours.

The seriously injured motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
