Get those crayons out, kids, and enter the poster contest as dog licensing month is just days away. And a 'top dog' will be chosen, too.

BRANFORD, CT — Grab the kids and crayons and markers. And your furry four-legged 'good boy.'

Branford Town Clerk Lisa Aprin does a lot of very cool projects in her office, and this is surely one. With June 1 around the bend, the day to get dog licenses, Aprin has a poster contest underway open kids from Kindergarten to fifth grade.

To enter, kids create an 8.5” x 11” poster encouraging dog owners to register their dogs in June, which is required by state law, email a photo of the poster to Arpin, Larpin@branford-ct.gov including name, grade, address and email.

Branford's Top Dog

In Branford, the "top dog" is chosen every year at random and then honored with showered with dog treats, toys, a photo op at Town Hall, and the honor of being top dog in town.

Reigning "top dog" Maddy has worn the number one tag for a year and "scored a big bag of toys and goodies."

Now, it's time for a new top dog in Branford. Yes, Branford Police K-9 Arrow is most definitely a top dog, but not the top dog.
