Winners Chosen In Zane's Cycles "What Are You Thankful For?" Essay Contest

Five Branford elementary students proudly displayed their winning essays at Zane's Cycles.

Branford, CT – Five Branford elementary students proudly displayed their winning essays amidst parents, grandparents, siblings and cameras flashing in Zane’s Cycles store. These five students, one each from Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade, were chosen as having written a winning essay in his or her grade on the subject “What Are You Thankful For?”, sponsored by Zane’s Cycles of Branford. Each was awarded a $100 gift certificate from Zane’s Cycles.

Competition was very intense with this year’s entries topping over 300 sent in to the contest. “It was exceptionally difficult to choose a winner. All of the young writers showed great creativity and enthusiasm,” said Tom Girard, manager of Zane’s Cycles and presenter of the awards. “Many included an illustrated example along with their story. We relied on an independent panel of judges to choose the winning essays.”

Three judges, comprised of an elementary school teacher, an education consultant and a journalist, read all the entries. The contest was open to all Branford elementary students from Grades K – 4.
