Bridgeport Police Investigate Shooting That Left 1 Dead, 1 Injured

The shooting occurred near the intersection of Pembroke​ and Arctic streets early Sunday.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 26-year-old Bridgeport man was killed early Sunday in a shooting near the intersection of Pembroke and Arctic streets in Bridgeport, according to police.

A second person suffered multiple gunshot wounds "to the lower extremities" in the in the 2:50 a.m. shooting, and that person, a 23-year-old Stratford man, was listed in stable condition.

The identity of the man was who killed has not been released by police department, which sends condolences.

"The Bridgeport Police Department’s thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, their families, and friends," said Capt. Kevin Gilleran in a statement.

Police were notified of the shooting by a ShotSpotter activation, which is a gunshot detection service.

"There were multiple shooters involved in this incident," Gilleran said. "Both victims appear to have been targeted."

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found the 26-year-old Bridgeport man, who was unresponsive, laying on the sidewalk just south of the intersection.

"The victim appeared to be suffering from a critical injury" Gilleran said. "Medics arrived and quickly transported the victim to an area hospital where he passed away."

A short time after the initial ShotSpotter activation, authorities received information of a second victim who showed up at an area hospital suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

"This victim, identified as a 23-year-old Stratford man, is also reported to have been injured while at the intersection of Pembroke Street & Arctic Street," Gilleran said.

The department's Detective Bureau, assisted by the Forensic Identification Unit, is currently in the process of interviewing witnesses, collecting evidence, and notifying next of kin.
