2-Alarm Fire Damages Flooring Supply Store In Bridgeport: FD
No injuries were reported in the Monday night fire at King Harwood Flooring.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — A two-alarm fire damaged the home of King Harwood Flooring on North Avenue in Bridgeport before firefighters were able to extinguish it, according to authorities.
No injuries were reported in the 10:15 p.m. blaze, which began as a single-alarm fire before quickly escalating to require a second alarm, in part, because the building "stores hardwood floors and adhesives used to install residential and commercial flooring."
The extent of the damage was not immediately known, and businesses near the facility were evacuated as a precaution, according to News 12 Connecticut.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Bridgeport Fire Marshals Division, and the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection was also notified due to the water runoff possibly being hazardous, due to the chemicals stored inside the building.
Mutual-Aid was needed from Fairfield and Stratford fire departments for Bridgeport station coverage.
