BRIDGEPORT, CT — Two Bridgeport men were arrested last week on charges connected to a burglary at a Trumbull apartment complex, according to Trumbull police.

In a news release, police said George Steele, 29, and Jermaine Culler, 18, both of Bridgeport, were arrested outside the Residences At Main, located at 5085 Main Street in Trumbull, Tuesday night around 11:30 p.m.

On Monday, a resident reported his apartment had been burglarized and a variety of personal property had been stolen. The following night, the same resident reported the two men at the complex who appeared to be the same intruders from the previous day, police said.

Police noted they are still investigating the incident and believe the resident was specifically targeted while his apartment was vacant. Some of the stolen property has not been recovered as of Monday afternoon.

Steele and Culler were both charged with fourth-degree larceny and misuse of the 911 system.

Steele, a convicted felon who is listed on the violent offender weapons registry, was also charged with falsely reporting an incident and criminal possession of ammunition, according to police.

Steele was held on a $100,000 bond and Culler was held on a $5,000 bond. Both men are scheduled to appear in court later this month, according to police.
