2 Bridgeport Men Broke Into Cars At Restaurants: Milford PD

BREAKING: Police say they have recovered some stolen items and are trying to find the owners of the stolen property.

MILFORD, CT — Two men have been arrested and are accused of breaking into several vehicles parked at local restaurants, Milford Police said.

Beginning in October 2018, Milford Police Department had experienced an increase of motor
vehicle burglaries that occurred in restaurant parking lots within the city, police said. During these burglaries, it was noted that a specific style was used by the suspect(s), police said.

These incidents occurred during the nighttime hours and, specifically, targeted commercial parking lots where entry was gained by prying the vehicle windows until the window breaks, police said.

After an extensive investigation into these crimes, warrants were applied for and Detectives
arrested Jimmie Bennett, 51, of Pearl Harbor Place, Bridgeport and Alphonso Thompson, 53, of Shell Street, Bridgeport for numerous burglaries in Milford, police said.

Detectives recovered stolen property that was reported stolen by the victims and some property that is believed to be from unreported car burglaries (Photos of some items are below, depicting the variety of items believed to have been taken during the burglaries), police said.

Bennett is charged with:
Illegal Use of a Credit Card
Conspiracy to Commit Illegal Use of Credit Card
Larceny 6 th


Thompson is charged with:
Illegal Use of a Credit Card (2 counts)
Credit Card Theft (2 counts)
Larceny 6th (2 counts)

Bennett was held on a $5,000 bond to appear in Milford Court on January 22, 2019. Thompson
was released on a Promise to Appear in Milford Court on February 12, 2019.
