2 Bridgeport Men Hospitalized After Weekend Shooting: Bridgeport PD

Both victims suffered gunshot wounds that are not considered to a threat to their lives.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 21-year-old and an 18-year-old, both of Bridgeport, were listed in stable condition at an area hospital after being shot Sunday night in the 300 block of Wells Street in Bridgeport, according to police.

The shooting occurred at about 10:15 p.m., and police were alerted to the incident through a ShotSpotter activation. ShotSpotter is a gunshot detection system that quickly alerts police to where gunshots have been fired.

"Upon arriving in the area, Officers were unable to locate a victim or a crime scene," wrote Bridgeport Police Capt. Kevin Gilleran in a statement. "A short time later, [two] male victims presented at an area hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. The first victim, a 21-year-old Bridgeport man, arrived at the hospital suffering from gunshot wounds to an extremity (leg). The second victim, an 18-year-old Bridgeport man, arrived at the hospital suffering from gunshot wounds to his extremities (leg and arm)."

The wounds both victims suffered are not considered to be a threat to their lives.

Bridgeport police detectives have gathered and processed "multiple items of evidence" from the sidewalk in front of nearby Max's Grocery Store at 2509 Main St.

"This appears to be an isolated incident where the victims were targeted," Gilleran said.
