TRUMBULL, CT — A suspected car thief led Trumbull police on a wild chase through the parking lot of the Westfield Mall in Trumbull Monday afternoon, smashing into police and other vehicles before abandoning the stolen car on the Merritt Parkway, according to authorities. No injuries were reported.

Bridgeport resident Dominique Reid, 23, was arrested after a foot chase in a nearby neighborhood and was charged with a host of offenses, including first-degree larceny, reckless driving and engaging police on pursuit. Also arrested on related charged were suspected accomplices Hector Delgado, 24, and Xavier Rondon, 29, both of Bridgeport.

Once they did, officers quickly arrested Delgado and Rondon, but Reid had gotten into the driver's seat and sped off, smashing into Trumbull police cruisers and other parked vehicles.

"Reid continued to drive recklessly through Westfield Mall property, and leaving mall property by traveling the wrong way up the Main Street entrance ramp," Trumbull police said. "Reid eventually proceeded onto the Merritt Parkway (Route 15) northbound entrance ramp, but as he merged onto the Merritt Parkway, he turned the vehicle and traveled southerly into oncoming traffic in the northbound lane. After a short distance, Reid abandoned the stolen Audi and continued to flee police on foot, but was later captured in a nearby residential neighborhood."
