3 Bridgeport Residents Charged With Marriage Fraud

The three entered into sham marriages to help their "spouses" obtain green cards, according to a federal indictment.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Three Bridgeport and one New York City resident were charged with a marriage fraud scheme.

Carl Jarrett, 35, Kenol Noel, 34, Ricky Owen, 39, all of Bridgeport along with Marvin Williams, 59, of New York City were federally indicted Nov. 19 with submitting false immigration documents and entering into sham marriages in order for non-U.S. citizens to get green cards.

The three Bridgeport people entered into two "marriages" and failed to disclose prior marriages and having sponsored green card applications for their first "spouses," according to the indictment. Williams entered into four marriages and sponsored green card applications for his four "spouses."

Dwight Henry, 44, a citizen of Jamaica residing in Queens, New York was also charged as part of the conspiracy. All five were arrested last week.

Noel faces a maximum prison term of 30 years; Jarrett, Owen and Williams face a maximum prison terms of 15 years and Henry faces a maximum term of 10 years.
