Amid Coronavirus, University Of Bridgeport Goes To Online Classes

The university has also decided to ban spectators when it hosts the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship this weekend.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Amid growing concerns about the new coronavirus, the University of Bridgeport will switch Monday to online-only classes and has decided not to allow spectators when it hosts the first three rounds of the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship over the weekend.

Starting next week, the university's main campus and Waterbury Center will conduct all classes online or through alternative instruction methods, according to an online posting Wednesday from the college. More information was expected later in the day.

The university also decided to hold the NCAA Division II East Regional as planned but without spectators after two cases of the coronavirus were confirmed in Connecticut and the governor declared a state of emergency.
