BRIDGEPORT, CT — Bridgeport is looking to spend $132 million to build a new elementary school at the East End site of the abandoned Harding High School building, the Connecticut Post reported.
The former high school has been vacant since 2018, and has caught fire on more than one occasion.
City officials are turning to the state for most of the funding for the new school, and hope to secure a commitment in the current General Assembly session, the publication reported.
The new elementary school would reportedly serve students that attend Beardsley, Edison and Hall elementary schools.
