BRIDGEPORT, CT — An unnamed special education teacher with Bridgeport Public Schools is under investigation for allegedly stealing lunch money from special needs students, News 12 Connecticut reported.
According to a parent of a special needs student, the teacher would request money from the students' families for lunch during outings, then order the least expensive things on the menu and keep the change.
Patch reached out to the district for comment, but did not immediately receive a reply.
Several parents have filed complaints about the teacher, who reportedly has been doing this for years.
In a statement to News 12 Connecticut, the district confirmed an investigation is underway, but declined any further comment. The teacher has reportedly been removed from the classroom while the matter is being investigated.
