Bridgeport Nets Tens Of Thousands Of Dollars In Latest State Nip Bottle Payouts (patch.com) — Bridgeport is receiving nearly $85,000 from Connecticut’s Nickel per Nip program, reflecting sales of more than 1.6 million miniature liquor bottles in the city. Local officials can use this new six-month payout for cleanups, recycling efforts, and other environmental projects that directly benefit Bridgeport neighborhoods.

Suspect in Bridgeport playground assault, attempted kidnapping of girl rejects plea offer (ctpost.com) — Bridgeport parents should know that a man accused of assaulting a girl and attempting to kidnap her from the Paul Laurence Dunbar School playground has rejected a plea deal and is heading toward trial. Prosecutors say the 2025 incident occurred during recess and ended with his arrest nearby by a Bridgeport officer; he remains jailed on high bond while facing multiple serious charges.    

4. FBI sees rise in smash-and-grab jewelry store thefts across New England (courant.com) — Two men from Bridgeport have been indicted in a federal case alleging a high-value smash‑and‑grab robbery at a Kay Outlet in Clinton, part of a broader spike in jewelry thefts across New England. The FBI’s New Haven office is assisting multiple investigations, including related cases in Manchester and Wethersfield, as authorities track a pattern of fast, masked store raids.    

5. Suspect Busted After Fleeing From Fairfield Cops, Then Giving Fake Name: Police (patch.com) — A Bridgeport resident faces numerous charges after Fairfield police say he fled a traffic stop, gave a false identity, and was later arrested on a warrant. The 52-year-old man is being held on $25,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on May 21.
